Kang Ping a little guy with a big story |
|
His Story This sweet little boy was born into a complicated family with a complex heart defect. Not long after he was born, his parents divorced and both parents left home; his mother is out of the picture and his father is working in another town. He was placed in the care of his paternal grandparents, who are poor farmers from the country side in central China. His grandparents love him dearly and strive to take good care of him. This past April little Kang Ping's Grandma took him to a local hosptial for some exams. But somehow while she was there with him, her 2 1/2 year old grandson was kidnapped. Grandpa immediately took to the streets in a desperate attempt to find their grandson. Kang Ping was left at an orphanage doorstep the same day he was kidnapped. Apparently those who had abducted him discovered his heart defect and decided they didn't want him. His grandpa spent 2 months searching for him in all the nearby towns and villages. He finally inquired at the orphanage where Kang Ping had been abandoned. Thanks to Grandpa's fervent search, Kang Ping is with his grandparents again. He recognized his grandpa right way and looked at him in wonder as if it was almost too much to hope that it was really him. Grandpa teared up many times telling us about his search for Kang Ping. |
His Needs
Kang Ping has a number of things wrong with his little heart. In mid-June CLF brought Kang Ping and his Grandpa back to Beijing for more exams in order to get a good assessment of his medical needs. He needs 2 heart sugeries; one now and one 2-3 years down the road. His family has no way of paying for the surgeries. CLF is hoping to help them by raising the money for the first surgery ~ the cost is estimated to be $7,000 USD. Grandpa and Kang Ping will travel back to Beijing for heart surgery as soon as we have enough money.
